This story is based on the true story of Cassidy's viral video shoot. Since the shooting of the video, it has been featured on hundreds of social media platforms and television shows across the world with millions of views and sound bites on platforms such as Opah Daily, Tina Knowles, The Shade Room, and D.L. Hughley.
Cassidy is now a 6-year-old living in New York. She is an influencer, model, actress, and kid entrepreneur who has always loved and embraced her afro. For her, it is an element of beauty, culture, power, and uniqueness.
Afro Unicorn was created to provide a safe space to help up/in and promote other unique and powerful women and children of color. Afro Unicorn gives representation where it didn't exist before while normalizing Black beauty.
The viral video became the spark behind the widely popular Afro-Unicorn brand. Walmart discovered Afro-Unicorn through the video on Oprah Daily (as Cassidy was wearing an Afro-Unicorn t-shirt, of course!) and emailed the founder, April Showers, with a request to bring the brand into party supplies. April is the first Black female character brand owner to be sold at major retailers in the U.S. Since then, Afro Unicorn has gone on to create and sell 100s of SKUs in Walmart with over 42 license partners, and will be launching at Target and other retailers in 2023.
Cassidy Breanna, April Showers, and Afro Unicorn will heavily promote the book to their responsive and engaged fans across social media, totaling approximately 100k followers and growing (Instagram: @Afrounicorn_official, @gotaprilshowers, @cassidy_brianna, @its_an_afro ).
