Descrizione |
Based on the life of King Henry V of England, Henry V is a history drama by William Shakespeare that emphasises the moments leading up to and following the Battle of Agincourt during the Hundred Years' War.
The play is the fourth and last instalment of a tetralogy that also includes Richard II, Henry IV, Parts 1 and 2, and Henry V. Because the plot is so "epic," this tetralogy is frequently referred to as the "Henriad." Thus, the title character, who was portrayed in the Henry IV plays as a reckless, ungrounded adolescent known as "Prince Hal," would have been well known to the initial audiences.
