It's amazing how little a man can accomplish on his own. A little hurt, a little stealing, and that are it. To the shock and terror of the majority of the villagers, a curious man enters an English inn while sporting a large coat, a wide-brimmed hat, and his entire face covered in bandages save for an obvious false pink nose. The man demands his privacy while carrying beakers and chemicals. It's unusual enough now, but then his finances start to dry up and strange burglaries start happening all around town. The 1897 novel The Invisible Man describes the conflict between a man who had learned how to make himself invisible and the residents of a small town.
