The Velvet Trap Dance Club was in a penthouse suite of high rise on Michigan Avenue in Chicago, and two of Leigh's co-workers planned to take her there for her birthday. It took some coaxing before they convinced Leigh to go. They promised her it would be fun. When the three of them arrived, Leigh was surprised at the reception she was given, with cordial, attention and hands on service.
Once seated Leigh noticed that all the couples were women, many of whom had graced the society pages of all the Chicago newspapers. After several minutes of awkwardness, the two co-workers were afraid that they had misread their friend and that she was put off by the insinuation of bringing her to this place and suggested they leave.
When the two began to apologize to her, she waved it off and said it was okay and suggested they stay for a few dances and a few drinks. It was then, the girls told Leigh that dancing and drinking weren't the only amenities of this exclusive establishment. As if on cue, their personal hostess came to their table and told Leigh her gift from the girls was in the Pisces room and led her away.
