Twenty-four year old Claire Maxwell is, by her own account, a reasonably intelligent, quite good looking, more than a little sexually-obsessed, bipolar head case. She's spent the last ten years bouncing between high-flying exuberance and crash and burn despair, or taking her medication and then doing her best impersonation of strung-out zombie. Now she's gone the extra mile and landed herself in a coma. Making matters worse, she's completely conscious inside it, aware of everything happening around her, but unable to make contact with the outside world. From Claire's point of view, it couldn't possibly get any worse … but of course then it does. A lot worse. What if a coma isn't the dark dead end we all assume it to be, but rather a potential portal to other worlds, each one stranger and more terrifying than the last? Adrift In The Coma Cluster is a speculative, darkly humorous take on the possibilities of alternative realities and multiple selves. It's the story of a damaged yet resilient young woman who, despite increasingly absurd, often dangerous circumstances, manages to take control of her life - or lives, more accurately - realizing that one's identity is not so much a matter of who we truly are, as deciding which version of ourselves we prefer to be.
